Nessah Muthy

Nessah Muthy is a multi-award-winning, three times Writer’s Guild nominated, writer for screen and stage.

In 2023 she was listed in Deadline as A Rising Writer To Watch Out For and in Broadcast Magazine a Broadcast Hot Shot.

Nessah has written for On The Edge Series III (BlackLight Television / Channel 4) and her award winning (Debut Writer/Edinburgh TV Festival and Broadcast Award Nominated 2023) Cradled, is now available to view on All4.

Nessah’s co-written 4 part thriller for Channel 5/Story Films has recently wrapped along with her episode of Grantchester (Series 9) for ITV/Kudos.

Nessah also has ideas in development with: HTM Television, Raw TV, Birdie Pictures, Fable Pictures, Genial Productions, Firebird Pictures, 42 M & P and BlackLight Television.

In 2022 Nessah wrote on A Gentleman In Moscow, starring Ewan McGregor for Showtime/Paramount Plus and The Winter King for ITVX.

Additionally, Nessah is a member of the Coronation Street writers’ team and to date has written 40 episodes, one of which has been recently nominated for an RTS North Award 2023.

For theatre Nessah is currently under commission to: the Actors Touring Company, National Youth Theatre, Kiln Theatre, Kali Theatre and is on attachment to the National Theatre Studio.

Previously Nessah has worked with a number of leading theatres and arts organisations including: the Almeida Theatre (Smiles Behind The Masks), Boundless Theatre (How To Save The Planet When You’re A Young Carer And Broke), Young Vic (Tapestry), Donmar Warehouse (Monuments), Royal Court Theatre, Punchdrunk, the National Youth Theatre, (The Host) Cardboard Citizens, HighTide, (Heroine) Kali Theatre, (Sundowning) Theatre Centre, Iris Theatre, Cloakroom Theatre/the King’s Head Theatre and the Gate Theatre/Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. After a critically-acclaimed, sell-out run in London, Nessah’s immersive play for young people, Small Wonders, (co-created with Punchdrunk) transferred to Imaginate’s Edinburgh International Children’s Festival in May 2019. It received five star reviews and was subsequently nominated in the Best Play for Young Audiences category at the Writers’ Guild Awards 2020.
